The apostle Paul explains that this baptism is into Jesus' death. "Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death?—Rom 6:3 NASB

Then Paul adds, "For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit."—1 Cor. 12:13 NASB
