When a man dies, is that the end to his existence?
Is there an immortal soul that goes to heaven, hell or purgatory after death?
Where did Lazarus go after he died and before he was raised back to life by Jesus?
How does the Biblical promise of a resurrection relate to man’s life after death?
The FREE 30-page booklet "Life After Death" presents the Bible’s answer to these questions and especially the question posed by Job in Job 14:14: “If a man die, shall he live again?
No subject is of more compelling and universal interest than the possibility of life after death. This is because death itself is so universal, and because all rationally minded humans want to live.
Death affects the human race because our first parents, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God’s law and ate the forbidden fruit. “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men.” (Rom. 5:12 NASB) Once dead, man has passed out of existence as Solomon wrote in Eccel. 9:5 (NASB): “For the living know they will die; but the dead do not know anything.”
Man’s hope for a future life is that he will be raised from the dead in a resurrection secured by the death of Jesus on the cross. “For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the first fruits, after that those who are Christ's at His coming.” (1 Cor. 15:22-23 NASB)
The resurrection of the entire world awaits the establishment of Christ’s kingdom here on earth following his return as Jesus said in John 5:28-29 (NASB): "Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs will hear His voice, and will come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.”
