Why doesn’t God fix the problems in this world?

God originally created man perfect, placed him in a garden and told Adam, if he obeyed, he would live forever. (Gen. 2:16-17) However, Adam disobeyed God’s commandment and reaped the penalty of death. — Gen. 3:17-19

Since that time, conditions have continued to deteriorate. Today, selfishness and unrighteousness dominate the world. The apostle Paul describes our day in 2 Tim. 3:1-4: “In the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God.”

God has a plan to recover mankind from this awful condition based on the sacrifice of Jesus. God “hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man [Jesus] whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.” — Acts 17:31

That judgment will involve first teaching the people righteousness. (Isa. 26:9) During that day, “I [God] will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.” (Jer. 31:33) The prophet Ezekiel writes “I [God] will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them." — Ezek. 36:27

Those who respond to this instruction and obey God’s laws and commandments in Christ’s earthly kingdom, will regain everything Adam lost – human perfection, everlasting life and harmony with God.
